Program Coordinator

 

 Duties and Responsibilities:
  Recruit students and volunteer tutors
  Perform initial assessment of new students and preliminary screening of potential tutors
  Deliver initial training workshop for new volunteer tutors and make available additional     training opportunities, as needed
  Match students and tutors
  Maintain tutor and student data
  Develop supportive working relationship with tutors through regular contact
  Perform ongoing evaluations of students
  Perform substitute tutoring when required
  Oversee the arrangement of tutor and/or student get-togethers
  Participate in the program planning, statistical tracking and program review process
  Interact with students, volunteers, government representatives and members of the public

 Required Skills:
  Knowledge of and experience in the adult literacy field; preference given to those with     experience in the area of learning disabilities
  Strong written and oral communication skills
  Ability to work as a member of a team and independently
  Strong interpersonal skills
  Experience delivering training
  Experience with MS Office software
  Excellent ability to organize workloads and set priorities in a constantly changing     environment

 Other Attributes:
  A strong desire to help others in a fun, rewarding and sometimes stressful environment
  Must be flexible in hours of work. Some evenings required.
  Volunteer management experience an asset

 Hourly wage: To be determined
 Hours:            30 hours per week (Monday-Thursday)
